I teach woodworking to small groups of women in my workshop. Daytime or evening classes are avaiable to suit your needs. The course covers the safe use of all the power tools in the shop. Following some practice work on the equipment, the women gain confidence and then enjoy creating a project of their choice.

Here are some comments from some of my former students:

"When I learned of a woodworking course for women taught by a woman who had been a lifelong worker in wood, I knew I had to try again. I had known Julia Armstrong in other aspects of our lives, as mothers and members of the community, but not until I saw her at work in her woodshop did I understand how completely Julia's ways of gentleness, humour, and expertise could combine to make learning how to use the saws a comfortable and confidence building experience. I highly recommend the woodworking course to other women (or men) who want an introduction to woodworking that is geared to the level of confidence of the individual. A practical, fun, and great introduction to a worthwhile pursuit! Thank you, Julia"

"Julia taught me how to porperly use power tools with which, I was not yet familiar, such as the a scroll saw, band saw, drill press, and a router. Her woodworking course was for me, a very rewarding experience."

"The first session was an introduction to the equipment we would be using along with a thorough introduction to safe use of the tools. A very satisfying course, with all of us gaining confidence and skills."
- Jeanette P.
